My name is Alex and I shot my first photograph when I was 6. I'm not the best person at writing, so I let the photos do most of the talking. Here is a little more info about me.

For a long time I only did photography as a hobby, and I never really tried to improve. 7 years ago however, I really started to learn the art of photography through self-teaching. The outcome, a few photography awards, held a few photo workshops, and I am continuously training others. After 7 years, I had the chance to experiment with nearly every digital camera on the market, and definitely with every pro model (if anyone really cares about this).

How did this help me, and how can I help you?

Well, I now understand pretty much every camera system, know almost all of its quirks and settings, and can answer all your questions or give you sound advice. It also brought me outside the camera bias (meaning that many choose one or two models that they mainly like and think that's the best) that many photographers have. From experience, I can tell you that not one camera model is the best at everything, although their marketing department and other influencers may have you believe that. Ultimately what makes the difference is YOU, and only YOU. If you know what you're doing you can use any cheap old camera to get amazing results (or your phone), and if you aren't experienced enough, you will get appaling results despite having the best gear in the world (Speaking from experience, when I got to use the Phase One system, a $50,000 camera system and Profoto flashes, at the beginning of my career. Quite bad photos, that I'm still embarrassed about to this day. I guess its part of learning).

What gear do I use now?

All sorts! Canon, Fuji, Phase One, Nikon, you name it. Don't limit yourself! Use what you have, and once you've reached the limit, obtain something new. Gear doesn't make you or me or anyone else a photographer, The camera is just the tool to get us to the end goal. If you asked me 2 or 3 years ago, I would have strongly said that phone photography isn't "real" photography. But honestly, what defines real photography anyway? As long as your photographs share a message and are shot with intent, congrats, you may be a photographer!

What can you expect from my photo articles?

I will write information I wish I knew when I got started, information you ask about, and my general thoughts on other photo related subjects. If you want me to cover something, just let me know, Instagram DM is open :)

Disclaimer

I can be sarcastic and quite direct on certain topics, so take everything I say with a pinch of salt and no offence. Likewise, I may not be the best photographer and I am definitely not great at writing, but if you like what I do and if I can answer your questions through my articles, then I am more than happy that you are here on my website.

Enjoy your stay, get in touch, and if you would like to setup a photo-shoot, let me know, I'm more than happy to talk it over.
